| Well, I figured we needed a guide, since Tobi got banned and all. Bear with me for awhile, these guides will probably suck for the time being xD
Also guys, be informed that there IS a job advancer AND a warper. Agent E is the one. She may not be overly easy to find, but she's always the one.
At any rate, here we go :3
When you first create your character, you'll start at Maple Island. This place is pretty self explanatory. Since this place is pretty much ridiculously easy to train in, I'll pretty much leave you with just this tip; Don't train past level 10 here. When you get to level 10 (or 8 if you want to be a mage), take the boat and get out of there :3 It's only 150 mesorz. You can get that from just a couple monsters, even on Maple Island.
At this point, you've probably picked a class already and know where to go to make your advancement. If this is the case, go ahead and skip this part. If you haven't, here's a little bit of information on the various jobs.
Warrior- Spoiler:
Swordman - This is pretty much the most straight-forward class there is. Pretty default-ish characters. High damage, but not the highest, highest HP by far, very low mp, but doesn't use alot of mp, and dammit they look like SOLDIERS in their armor :3 They use STR for attacking power and DEX for accuracy, stability in damage, avoidability, etc. You can make the job advancement as a warrior in Perion by talking to Dances With Balrog, or simply by talking to Agent E in the Free Market.
++++++++++++++++++++Warrior 2nd Job+++++++++++++++++++++++
Fighter - These guys are the damage-dealers of the group. They use swords and axes, so their attacks are probably going to be the fastest you're going to find among warriors. There are exceptions, but as a general rule 2h axes are to be avoided. They don't do enough damage to make up for the lack of speed.
Spearman - These are the tanks. They don't do all that great of damage, although they do have potential to do decent. They are definitely the slowest of the group, using spears and polearms, even though this gives them the longest range in their normal attack (as in not using a skill). However, they do have Dragon Roar, which is a very good full-screen attack, although not as good as that of the mages. Also, they have the skill Hyper Body, which increases the max hp and mp of the entire party for a set amount of time. This makes them invaluable as party players. As solo, probably not the best class around.
Page - These guys are neither the tanks, nor the damage dealers, but I would go so far as to say they have the most tolerance out of all the classes in the game for variation in monster types, due to the elemental charging of their weapons. They are the elementals of the group. They use blunt weapons and swords, so once again, they have pretty good versatility. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Page also has the Power Guard skill, which makes party members reflect back a percentage of the damage done to them, and inflict that damage on the monster which dealt it. They also possess the infamous ban-hamma skill, more correctly called Heaven's Hammer, which is a mass attack that does massive damage to a large group of monsters, although I don't think it can actually kill them.
Archer
- Spoiler:
Archer - These are your typical long range attackers. Fairly mediocre in all stats at a glance, but have incredible potential. They use bows and crossbows, which vary in speed and power. First job, all in all, they're pretty bland. However, come second job, their true colors start to show. At second job, both types of archers obtain Soul Arrow, which allows them to attack for a time without actually using arrows. Archers use DEX for attack power and accuracy. The only reason to even consider having any STR is so that you can equip weapons other than the level 10 one and the maple weapons. You can make the job advancement as an archer in Henesys, either by talking to Athena Pierce or by talking to Agent E in the Free Market. Which one you talk to doesn't really matter.
+++++++++++++++++++++++Archer 2nd Job++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hunter - These are the faster of the 2 types of archers. They use normal bows, which means that they are significantly faster than the crossbowmen, but do a bit less damage. At 4th job, they attain Hurricane, which fires a constant stream of arrows which possess decent damage, which, combined with Soul Arrow, makes them debatably the most powerful class in all of Maple.
Crossbowmen - These poor guys really are underappreciated, being slower than the hunters, even though they do slightly more damage. They, as the name implies, use crossbows. Although they never get a skill that can quite match Hurricane, they are actually a very good class. For instance, they have an attack much like the Page's Heaven's Hammer, except that it only fires in a straight line and can actually kill the monsters. Come to think of it, pretty much the only similarities between those attacks are that they're both mass attacks and both have to charge.
Magician
- Spoiler:
Magician - These guys are pretty much everything you would expect in a typical magic class. They start off with pretty basic spells that aren't very impressive, and eventually get basically full control of the elements. They don't have much hp, but that's basically taken care of by first job's magic guard, which takes up to 80% of damage taken and inflicts it on your mp. They have ridiculously high mp, as you would expect, which means they can use skills almost constantly, and use potions less often than most classes. All 4th jobs for the Magicians have a full-screen mass attack which surpasses even Dragon Roar in power (apart from rb's since we don't have those atm), which makes them by far the best for straight grinding. There's really only 2 downsides to mages. The first is that they have ridiculously low dps, since most of their attacks are not geared for speed so much as they are for power, and the second is that without a damage cap, they actually have a much lower maximum damage than the rest of the classes, since Magic Attack is capped at 1999, as opposed to physical attack not actually having a cap. Magicians use wands and staves, which means they vary greatly in power and speed. Magicians use INT as attack power, likeliness of hitting, and everything else. They do not actually use accuracy, which means that the accuracy debuff does nothing. (Speaking of which, being weakened also does very little due to Teleport :]) They also use LUK to get into their armor, and for avoidability. The job advancement as a magician can be made either in Ellinia by talking to Grendel the Really Old, or (obviously) by talking to Agent E in the Free Market.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Magician 2nd Job++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Cleric - These are, as you've probably guessed, the healers of the game. They employ healing skills and light skills, with slightly less attack power than the other classes of mages, apart from the undead monsters, which, interestingly enough, compose a surprising amount of the best training spots in the game. They also use even less potions than other mages due to the fact that they can heal, and remove the need for HP potions. At 4th job they obtain Resurrect, which makes them ridiculously useful in battle. Not a great class for Pink Bean, but apart from that, truth be told, probably the best mages there are.
Fire/Poison Wizard - These are the damage dealers of the mage class. Pretty much all their attacks are geared towards doing damage. Their fire attacks have more potential for damage than any other element among the mages, and their poison attacks do pretty constant damage. Despite how appealing this sounds, they're actually not exactly a great class. Very useful for short boss fights, but that's about it. They don't get a mass attack until 3rd job, so they aren't really that great for grinding. They also can't inflict status ailments that are all that useful against high-hp monsters, so they aren't really good for long battles either. This is basically the class you pick if you wanna gawk at how much damage you're doing as a mage, and not much else. Some people manage to do well with fire/poison wizards, but I really could never see how they did it. Maybe you can figure it out. If so, you'll be doing a lot of damage.
Ice/Lightning Wizard - These are the halfway point. They do more damage than Clerics (apart from undead or unholy monsters of course), and give much better status ailments than Fire/Poisons. Their ice attacks do a decent amount of damage, and add freezing to the mix so that, although the clerics can heal, these guys pretty much just don't get hit, because the monster is generally frozen. This doesn't work on bosses or ice types, of course, but the general rule still stands. The lightning don't actually give a status ailment, but honestly it's a pretty damn powerful element. Ice/Lightnings are also the only mages to get a mass attack that can be used on any monsters. (I know, the Cleric's Heal is a mass attack. However, it can't attack anything except undead monsters, so I don't really count it as one.) That pretty much sums them up.

Off topic: Tobi's guides were really shitty anyways. The "On Topic" bit: Mind if I use that as the spearman part and give you credit for it? :3 The "Off topic" bit: True, but I was trying not to make a stab at him there xD | |
